Dialogo Silenzioso (meaning “Silent Dialogue” in Italian) is a multimedia exhibit that tells the encounter of Great Mother Africa — in this case, represented by Ethiopia — with the mother of all arts (dance) through photography and literature.
The Dialogo Silenzioso exhibit is designed as an itinerary to be followed like a maze, elusive like dancing. It’s the dance of the Ethiopian people’s bodies suspended in the photographs by Claudio Maria Lerario and Elisa Amati. It’s a dance of ideas that emerge from the timeless words written by some of the greatest authors of all time and painted by Concetta Ferrario. It’s the dance of Movimento Centrale’s performers. And it’s the dance of the visitors’ bodies, who inhabit the exhibition’s spaces.
Dialogo Silenzioso’s catalogue
Dialogo Silenzioso is an exhibition where the visitors — besides watching — read and listen with pleasure.
The visitors are witnesses but also protagonists of the event. Suspended in the soundscape created by musician Fabio Mina — with voices coming from many parts of Africa — they contribute to creating new dialogues. Because every creation is a dialogue, every dialogue is a test, and each test is a desire to get in touch with the beauty of our diversity.
